Discover Chadderton

Parks, heritage and a proper Manchester welcome

Sat in the heart of Chadderton, the Washbrook Tavern is your ideal base for exploring everything Oldham has to offer. With plenty of parking on site and the M60 just minutes away, it’s easy to drop in before or after a day out.

Whether you’re walking the woodland trails at Tandle Hill Country Park, spending an afternoon in the grounds of Foxdenton Hall, or heading into Oldham for Alexandra Park and Gallery Oldham, you’re never far from something worth doing. And when you’re ready to swap the great outdoors for a great pint, we’ll be here waiting.

Local Area

Foxdenton Hall & Park

Chadderton’s own slice of history. Foxdenton Hall is a handsome Grade II* listed house built between 1710 and 1730, set in open parkland with lawns, mature trees, a playground and bowling greens. Perfect for a lazy afternoon stroll on the doorstep. Pop into the Washbrook afterwards and make a proper afternoon of it.

Tandle Hill Country Park

Oldham’s oldest country park, opened in 1919, and still one of its finest. Beech woodland, open meadow and a hilltop war memorial with long views out over the Rossendale hills and back towards Manchester. Dogs welcome, muddy boots expected. Just a short drive from the pub, so finish the day with a pint at the Washbrook.

Alexandra Park & Gallery Oldham

A Victorian classic. Alexandra Park opened in 1865 and remains Oldham’s grandest green space, with a boating lake, formal gardens and tree-lined avenues. Pair it with Gallery Oldham and the town centre for a proper day out, then head back to the Washbrook for a well-earned pint.
